MUMBAI: Healthy growth of infrastructure industries failed to prop up the stock market, which on Tuesday snapped a five-day winning streak to settle 54 points lower on profit booking in blue chips.
The 30-share benchmark index, Sensex, closed 0.31 per cent down, or 54.66 points, to settle at 17,690.62. The 50-share Nifty settled down 0.26 per cent at 5,308.35 points. Sensex heavyweight Reliance Industries closed down 0.81 per cent at Rs 1,061.10 and real estate player DLF settled at Rs 317.15, down 1.81 per cent. Among the 30 constituents of Sensex, 20 scrips ended in the red, while 10 closed in the positive territory.
