NEW DELHI: The World Gold Council (WGC) has appointed Mr David Lamb as its managing director for jewellery. The appointment will be effective from July 1, 2010.
Mr Lamb, who will be based in New York, will have overall responsibility for the strategic development of the gold jewellery market worldwide with a particular focus in building the premium market in the US.
He will be a member of the WGC’s Leadership Team and will report directly to WGC CEO, Mr Aram Shishmanian.
Prior to his appointment to the WGC, Mr Lamb was an executive director of the Diamond Trading Company (DTC), the sales and marketing arm of De Beers, as worldwide marketing director and subsequently chief strategy officer.
Set up in 1987, the WGC is an industry association of the world’s leading gold mining companies. It aims to stimulate demand for gold from industry, consumers, and investors.
