PANAJI: The Goa branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India had organised an interactive meeting with the Income Tax Department to discuss the TDS- related issues faced by the Tax deductees and tax deductors in Goa recently.
The chairman of the Goa Branch CA Ashish Prabhu Verlekar gave the inaugural address. The meeting was addressed by Commissioner of Income Tax, Ms Simar Singh Negi and Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Mr Manoj Joshi. ACIT Ms J D Jayanti gave presentation on TDS related issues. ACIT Mr Sunder Rajan was also present on the occasion along with ITO Mr Hanumantappa. Central Council Member from ICAI, New Delhi, CA S B Zaware gave important suggestions to readdress the issues faced by the tax department and tax assessees. CA Virendra Prabhudesai proposed the vote of thanks.
Many senior CAs in practice attended the function. Goa branch of ICAI had also made a representation to the CCIT Mr Pankaj Gupta on the problems and issues faced by the Tax assesses and their representatives in Goa.
Meanwhile, chartered accountant Mr Kamlesh Amlani of Goa branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants has been co-opted as a member on ‘Career Counselling Committee’ of Western India Regional Council (WIRC) of ICAI. Mr Amlani has been past chairman of Goa Branch of WIRC of ICAI, and has been a visiting faculty in various colleges affiliated to the Goa University. He has delivered talks to students, professionals, Income Tax Department officials, and others at different forums on ‘Career Counselling, Direct and Indirect Taxes and Information Technology.’
