Gujarat, Goa tie up to increase tourist flow

PANAJI: Gujarat Tourism, which now has Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan as its brand ambassador, has increased the development of more hotels in the state.

Over 1.65 crore tourists visited Gujarat last year, Gujarat Tourism chairman, Mr Kamlesh Patel said during a Gujarat tourism roadshow in Goa, recently. Places of interest in Gujarat that include religious sites, wild life sanctuary, beaches, heritage sites, Buddhist monuments among others, were displayed in a presentation at a press conference.
The managing director of Goa Tourism, Mr Nikhil Desai informed that Goa has tied up with Gujarat tourism to boost overall tourism in both states
The secretary of tourism, Mr Vipul Mittra said Gujarat also organises fairs and festivals such as Rann Utsav, International Kite festival and vibrant navratri. Mr Patel said 12 roadshows were scheduled this year to promote Gujarat tourism.
To achieve its vision in tourism development, government of Gujarat has created a company in association with IL and FS namely Gujarat Tourism Project Development Company Ltd (GTPDCL). This company aims at undertaking project development for about 50 projects in the range of ` 10-200 crore each.
