GTDC wins best State Tourism Board Award

PANAJI: The Goa Tourism Development Corporation Ltd has been officially declared as the winner in the category of Best State Tourism Board of the Year in the Class of Travel & Tourism Awards, on the sidelines of the Travel and Tourism summit, which was held April 21 at a glittering function in the Taj Lands End Mumbai.

The award is a feather in GTDC’s cap and bears testimony to the hard work put in by the management headed by chairman and MLA of Curchorem constituency Mr Shyam Satardekar and his team of officers from the GTDC.
Mr Shyam Satardekar received the award on behalf of the GTDC, in the presence of Mr Nikhil Desai managing director. He dedicated the award to the efforts put in by the GTDC staff that caters to the broader vision and creating an organization which is lean and effective.
GTDC has the distinction of being a pioneer in the tourism domain and it was one of the first Government Corporations in India to leverage its presence in the web 2.0 domain by marketing its products through Facebook and Twitter besides it already has an online booking service engine and customer relationship management software. This reduces the cost of transaction per person by approximately 30 per cent and saves immense time, said a press release. The award is in recognition to the various broad initiatives launched by the GTDC recently.
GTDC has won the award amid challenge posed by other state tourism corporations such as Kerala Tourism Development Corporation, Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation, Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation, and Uttaranchal Tourism who were among the nominees in this category.
