Exotica Society plans short-term courses

MARGAO: A ray of hope for workers, who have acquired skills at their work place and are deprived of a formal certificate, earn lower wages and are generally exploited by their employers. But their contribution to GDP cannot be ignored.

Towards these workers, Exotica Educational Society is all set to begin short-term courses based on Modular Employable Skills in the Information and Communication Technology sector from August 2. These courses have been recently approved by the directorate of employment and training, Union Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Due to this system of certification, the skills of this sector will be recognised and they will be provided training too. This will benefit this category of workforce to earn a decent living while they contribute to the national economy by better productivity.
The revised short-term skill development courses will be of 180 hours duration and due to flexible delivery mechanism the courses are planned in part time, full time, and week-end classes. The timings are prepared to suit the problems faced by this sector of workers, wishing to attend the classes.
Training of most of these courses will initially start in Reliance Trade Centre, Margao and then in Panaji, Ponda Mapusa and Vasco respectively.
