Annual boat expo to be held in Panaji next month

PANAJI: The annual Goa International Marine and Boat Expo will be held from December 14 to 16 in Panaji. The event which is in its 4th year, showcases boats from Goan, Indian and international companies, along with some of the latest innovations in marine equipment, supplies and services.

The boat show is supported by the Goa Government, while the Yachting Association of India, Board Sailing Association of India and Goa Yachting Association are event partners and is organised by Media Promotions Ltd.

The expo is also a hub for networking where quality enthusiast buyers can interact with the best dealers from the country for leisure boating and yachts.

For adventure sports enthusiasts, there are kayaks, jet skis, and speed boats also on display. The show also hosts sailing gear, outboard motors, pontoons and marina systems.

The first edition which was first held in 2009 is ideally timed to coincide with the tourist season. Over 65 per cent of the visitors came with the intention of making a boat purchase and this has encouraged the organisers to keep upgrading the quality of the expo and the exhibitors over the years.

Brands such as Acr Dock, Airberth, Arshea Marine Concepts, Aquarius fibre glass, Bayliner, Chinkara Marine, Dan Fenders, Eclipse Kites, Edgewaker, Fairline, Ferretti, Feelfree Kayaks, Gill, Grand Soleil, Holt, Jeanneau, Kaiyan, Kawasaki, Litmus Marine, Majesty, Marlow, Mercury Marine, Mercury Inflatables, Meridian Yachts, Monterey, Nautitech, Novurania, Oryx Peterlynn Kites, Praga Marine, Prestige, Princess, Regal, Silver Craft, Sea Ray, Sea Royal, Sessa Marine, Sea Scan Marine, Sealine, S S Marine, Sun Marine, Viking Yachts, Walkerbay, Water Wish and Yamaha will be on display.

To boost interest among those not familiar with boats, the expo also has an exclusive on-water display where visitors can check out select offerings which represent the best of exhibitors. In the past, the expo featured India’s first 40-ft sailing Leopard catamaran from Cape Town in South Africa brought in by Aquasail, the Majesty 44 Motor Yacht and Viking 57 Sports Fishing Yacht from West Coast Marine. Another special feature was the Battuta by Neil Marine, which was exhibited for the first time in the country. Clients also have the opportunity to take a ride in the yachts.

The government sector also participates at the expo, including Mormugao Port Trust, which showcased their development plans as well as their achievements.

The boat expo attracts visitors from across various fields such as professionals associated with the marine and boat industry, high-end tourists who have high interest in sailing, management staff of 7-star deluxe and 5-star resorts as well as high-end and budget hotels.
