Tata Motor dealerships in Goa have started accepting bookings for the Harrier SUV, on an advance payment of Rs 30,000.According to Auto Industries Goa, Nuvem, a dealership that deals with Tata Motors passenger vehicles, the SUV is expected to make its appearance in the showrooms by mid February. While the pricing for the Harrier, on road is approximated to be around Rs 15 lakh to Rs 16 lakh for the basic models and Rs 20 Lakh to Rs 21 Lakh for the top models.
The five seater monocoque is inspired by Tata’s H5X concept SUV, showcased at the Auto Expo 2018. It is engineered on the new generation ‘optimal modular efficient global advanced’ architecture, derived from the legendary Land Rover D8 and developed in collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover.
Coming to the engine specification of the Harrier, the SUV will be powered by a 2 liter turbo charged diesel engine sourced from Fiat. This engine is expected to be offered in 140 Bhp-320 Nm state of tune. It will also offer multi-drive modes with this engine, which will get 6 speed manual and 6 speed torque converter automatic gearboxes. The automatic gearbox will be sourced from Hyundai.
Harrier is the first vehicle to sport the IMPACT Design 2.0 philosophy. As for drivelines, a front wheel drive layout will be standard across most variants while the top-end trims will offer all wheel drive layouts with a terrain response system. On the interior the SUV is expected offer a cooled glove box integrated into the front armrest. Another segment leading feature will be storage area for cell phone. The SUV will also have a rotary dial to select various driving modes, and also to select terrain response functions on the variants equipped with all wheel drive.
Having received a tremendous response through bookings Mayank Pareek, president, passenger vehicle business unit, Tata Motors, at the roll out of the first Harrier in Pune said “With the all- new assembly line ready, we are now gearing up to start deliveries in early 2019. The Tata Harrier will be positioned above Hexa the company’s earlier launch. Distinguishing the Harrier from Hexa is its two rows of seats, in a 5 seat layout. The SUV is expected to compete with Hyundai Creta and the Jeep Compass along with Mahindra XUV500.
