BOI’s angel scheme for girl students

Bank of India (BOI) flagged off its Star Angel scheme in Goa recently under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao abhiyan with Dinabandhu Mohapatra, managing director and CEO, coming down to Goa to do the launch.

A pan-India scheme, it supports five economically weak girl students per rural branch towards their educational requirements. The launch by Mohapatra was on August 29 at Utorda branch.

As per the Star Angel scheme, all rural branches need to identify five girl students belonging to economically weaker section who are studying in primary level, preferably standard one. The shortlisted girl children shall be awarded with annual scholarship of Rs. 1200.

Apart from Utorda branch the scheme was also launched at Varca and Colva branches with two girl students in each of the branch awarded the scholarship. The event was organised under supervision of Prashant Naik, zonal manager, Goa and Subhash Phadate, deputy zonal manager.

Speaking at the occasion, Naik said that, through the scheme the bank aims at giving back to the society and contributing to the building of the nation. He added that, all rural branches in the state will be implementing the Star Angel scheme.
