A Pernem youth, who attempted to appear for police constable job’s interview with an alleged fake certificate at Fatorda and who was booked by Margao police for forgery, has moved anticipatory bail application before additional district and sessions judge, South Goa.
The court heard the arguments on Wednesday from defence and public prosecutor and has posted the matter for orders on December 4. Margao police have registered an offence of forgery against the youth. According to police, the superintendent of police Vishram Borkar has lodged a complaint in connection with the incident and offences of forgery and cheating have been registered.
Police said that, at Fatorda stadium, recruitment of police constables was on and that Sagar Naik of Tuem-Pernem had submitted a SSC certificate in that regard.
A concerned officer, suspecting something amiss, decided to send the certificate to the Goa Board for verification of its authenticity. Upon verification, it was discovered that the certificate was bogus. Police said that, based on the complaint, an offence under sections 465, 468, 420 and 471 of IPC has been registered pending investigation. Police said that the bogus certificate produced by the youth was of the year 2010.
