BJP leader expelled for anti-Gadkari remarks

BHOPAL: Two days after he publicly criticised the BJP president, Mr Nitin Gadkari, former MP and state leader, Mr Laxman Singh was on Thursday expelled from the party.

“I have expelled Singh from the primary membership of the party,” the Madhya Pradesh BJP president, Mr Prabhat Jha told PTI.
Reacting to his expulsion, Mr Singh merely said “thanks”.
The former BJP member of Parliament, brother of senior Congress leader, Mr Digvijay Singh, had launched a broadside against Mr Gadkari at a press conference in Guna on Tuesday.
Mr Singh had said Mr Gadkari, who took over the top party post in December last, “lacked political experience” and had been making “irresponsible” statements.
He had also questioned BJP’s decisions to bring back senior leader, Mr Jaswant Singh into the party fold and fielding a prominent lawyer, who had defended Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, for Rajya Sabha polls last month.
