CURCHOREM: South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar has said that the BJP government has successfully completed four years at the Centre and this need to be highlighted among the people, especially the development works carried out under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He was speaking at a press conference at Neturlim-Sanguem, organised by Sanguem mandal of BJP and attended by ex-MLA Subhash Phaldessai, South Goa ZP Navnath Naik, mandal president Suresh Kepekar, Sadanand Gaonkar, Subhash Velip and others.
Further, Sawaikar said the Modi-led government achieved within four years what the Congress could not achieve in the last 48 years.
He said during the 48 months of BJP rule in the country, around three crore people gave up gas subsidy due to which several poor families could get gas connections, while works on roads, bridges, highways were going on in full swing.
Being a small state, he said, Goa could get IIT and NIIT institutions. The long-pending demand of the people of Canacona regarding construction of Galgibaga-Talpona bridge is also nearing completion, he said.
Several schemes have been floated for the welfare of famers and in last four years, Goa has received around Rs 12,000 crores for different projects to be constructed in Goa, he added.
Because of his dynamism, he said, Prime Minister Modi is being invited and welcomed by different countries of the world which has never happened in the past. He appealed to the people to be with the party and extend their whole hearted support in the coming 2019 Lok Sabha elections as they have done in the last Lok Sabha elections.
