BITS Pilani Goa holds Alumni Research Talks 2019


Alumni Relations Cell and the IEEE chapter of BITS Pilani – K K Birla Goa Campus organised the first Alumni Research Talks (ART). The event featured talks cum interactive sessions with five eminent alumni of BITS Pilani, who shared their success stories, and delved into their research interests and how they could affect the future.

Present at the event were director of BITS Pilani Goa Campus, professor G Raghurama; Sai Kothai and executive vice chairman and COO of Mindtree Limited, NS Parthasarathy.

ART 2019 talks were delivered by alumni of BITS Pilani, namely, nuclear physicist, University of Notre Dame, USA, professor Umesh Garg; program director, ISRO, Bangalore, Surendra Pal; professor of Marketing, MIT, USA, Sharmila Chatterjee; secretary, Centre of Developmental Education, IFIM Institutions, Bangalore, Sanjay Padode and professor of mathematics, IISc, Bangalore, Govindan Rangarajan.

Associate professor, department of Computer Science and Information Systems, Biju K Raveendran was awarded during a felicitation ceremony that followed after the talks.

The award citation was presented at the hands of Parthasarathy. The award also included a cash prize of `1,00,000.

In his speech, professor Biju spoke about how he was always inspired by his own professors, and that the best teachers always remember to teach from the heart and never from the mind. Kothai also spoke about the award in remembrance of her father, late professor S S Ranganathan.

ART was attended by students from BITS and other colleges including IIT Goa, GEC, Agnel Polytechnic and Padre Conceicao College of Engineering.
