BICHOLIM: Women from mining-dependent households, on Saturday, took out a rally from Bicholim KTC bus stand to MLA Sadan in support of their demand for resumption of mining operations at the earliest.
When the rally reached the Bicholim MLA’s office, a delegation handed over memorandum of demands to MLA Rajesh Patnekar who listened to their grievances. Besides resumption of mining, the other demands include provision of transport facilities for school children and financial package to families by mining companies. MLA Patnekar informed the women that the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has taken cognisance of mining-dependents’ problems and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be urged for his intervention in the matter.
