Museum of Goa in collaboration with the Goa Artists Collective hosted an exhibition titled Into The Vault. The exhibition features 11 artists who practice in Goa and was initiated by Pradeep Naik. The exhibition was inaugurated at the hands of retired journalist, Patricia Pereira-Sethi. In her address, she spoke about artists and the importance of supporting them, and shared anecdotes about FN Souza and MF Husain, both of whom she knew personally. Also present were artists Orijit Sen and Nikhil Chopra.
The exhibition featured artists, namely, Akshay Chari, Bhisaji Gadekar, Dhiraj Pednekar, Diptej Vernekar, Gaurang Naik, Kalidas Mhamal, Pradip Naik, Rajendra Mardolkar, Shailesh Dabholkar, Shilpa Mayenkar and Siddesh Chari. Speaking at the inauguration, Pradeep Naik said: “The museum and director Subodh Kerkar gave us a lot of freedom in creating this exhibition, and this wouldn’t have been possible without that kind of support.”
Into The Vault features paintings, sculptures, an installation, multimedia projections and other works of art. The exhibition asks what it takes for an object to become a museum artefact, thereby critiquing the idea of a museum. This exhibition also aims to be a space where viewers can reconnect with their emotions and learn more about
themselves. (The exhibit is open to the public till December 5)
