Margao: According to information placed at the ongoing assembly session, a total of around Rs 17.84 crore development works undertaken by the Public Works Department (PWD) have been completed in Benaulim constituency.
Works that have been completed include resurfacing of internal roads in Cavelossim, improvement of roads and drainages, resurfacing and hot-mix carpeting of various roads in Seraulim, repairs to road embankment at Benaulim and repairs to roads in Carmona, Varca and Orlim. Works still pending include hot-mix carpeting, improvement of riding quality of internal roads and improvement to existing and new rain water drains in Orlim, Benaulim and Colva.
The Ministry for Rural Development has also taken up several development works in the constituency. In another reply to Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao’s question, the department informed of five works undertaken under Goa Gram Samrudhi Yojana (GGSY).
Beautification work around the Vithoba Rukmini Temple in Orlim is expected to be completed by January 2020 while the work of construction of graves and laying of pavers for Seraulim church also expected to be done by January 2020 is 55 per cent completed.
Works tendered and awaiting expenditure sanctions include construction of new graves at Orlim cemetery and the construction of a new stage and compound wall at Our Lady of Patrocinio Chapel in Benaulim. The proposed work of electrification of the community hall at Cavelossim has received administrative approval and is waiting to be tendered.
