Anti Tobacco Film Festival today


The Entertainment Society of Goa in association with the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Goa Dental College and Hospital is organising the 2nd Goa Anti Tobacco Film Festival today.

The Prize distribution ceremony will be held at 10.30 a.m. at the hands of Secretary, Health, Government of Goa, Ashok Kumar (IAS), followed by the screening of award winning advertisement and short films at Auditorium 1, Maquinez Palace, ESG, Panaji. A total of 17 ad films and 9 short films were received in the Goa category, while 12 ad films and 4 short films were received in the national category. 42 film makers participated in the contest.

The aim of the festival is to select Ad Films and Short films to spread the message of harmful or ill effects of tobacco use and also to decrease the occurrence of oral cancer and heart disease, with the ultimate objective being to render Goa smoke free. The award winning films in all categories will be used for promotions of ad campaigns of Anti Tobacco across cinema theatres/TV channels, schools, colleges and other government department programmes in Goa.
