PANAJI: Sensing increased competition in 4G services, Bharti Airtel announced the roll out of upgraded 4G network in Goa on Thursday. The upgrade offers enhanced broadband experience with faster data speeds and coverage to customers, said Vidur Rattan, chief executive officer, Maharashtra and Goa.
He informed that, while Airtel already had 4G services in Goa (launched six-eight months back) the company recently added 4G capacity in the 1800 MHz band. The additional MHz will give wider coverage to Goan customers, said Rattan.
Airtel’s previous 4G capacity in Goa was in the 2300 MHz band and the company got the additional 1800 MHz in the recent spectrum auction, said Rattan.
To avail of the upgraded 4G network, existing customers with compatible mobiles can switch to a 4G SIM and get one-time free 4G data up to 10GB, said the telecom company.
The Goa launch of the upgraded 4G network was together with the launch in Maharashtra and other states.
Airtel is rated as one of India’s fastest 4G network, said Rattan. With upgraded technology customers can enjoy mobile broadband on the go and access uninterrupted HD video streaming and superfast downloading and uploading of movies, music and images, he said.
