After recording the statements of Aires Rodrigues in connection with the alleged sexual harassment case, Anjuna police had on Monday summoned Verla-Canca sarpanch and Goa Forward leader Milton Marques to appear before it. However, the sarpanch sought two days time to appear before police.
On Monday morning, Verla-Canca sarpanch was summoned by police to record his statement in connection with the case. Police informed that last week, a video was circulated on social media wherein the name of Milton was linked to this case hence they had summoned him.
Anjuna PI Chetan Patil informed that Milton had come to the police station on Monday and in view of the feast of St Francis Xavier at Old Goa has sought two days time to appear before them for inquiry.
It may be recalled that on November 4, a woman from Siolim had lodged a complaint against advocate Rodrigues that he had posted various posts on Facebook and WhatsApp regarding alleged sex scandals of a state Minister and also posted photographs of the complainant on WhatsApp on November 9, linking her to the alleged sex scandals.
The FIR further states, “Due to the series of sexually-coloured WhatsApp posts posted on social media, the modesty of the complainant was outraged and insulted and also due to the circulation of post and photograph of the complainant on social media she was defamed.”
Acting on the complaint, Anjuna police have registered a case under section 354 (A) (iv) (act of making sexually-coloured remarks), section 509 (words, gestures or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and section 500 (defamation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
