In order to facilitate farmers and traders related to agriculture commodities, Goa State Agriculture Marketing Board has come up with “Agri Bazar” at Ponda market sub yard.
It is one of its kind project in the state, which will be combination of traditional market yard with modern farmers facilitation centre, informed chairman of the Board Ulhas Asnodkar, on Monday.
First phase of the project is complete, which has facilities such as grading system, cold storage, repining chambers and trader related facilities will be inaugurated on February16, at 4.30 pm.
Agri Bazar will be inaugurated in the hands of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Gajendra Singh Shekhavat.
Minister of AYUSH Shripad Naik, Agriculture Minister Vijay Sardesai, South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar, MP Vinay Tendulkar, MLA Ravi Naik, and sarpanch Rukma Khandeparkar will be present on the occasion.
Agri Bazar project is proposed in 1,500 square meters of area and is constructed under Rashtriy Krishi Vikas Yojana. Total estimate of the project is around Rs 29 crore, of which 75 percent is provided by Central government under RKVY scheme and rest will be borne by the state.
Total built up area of the cost will be around 7,500 square meters of which first phase has been completed, informed member of the administrative committee Sunil Desai.
The auction facilities ensure a fair price to the farmers, adequate storage facility to store unsold commodities, cold room to store perishable commodities, farmer advisory centre containing a laboratory, guidance cell, seminar halls for training of farmers has been provided.
