A tribute to legendary singer Dhondutai Kulkarni

To enthral music lovers with some soothing classical music the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, in collaboration with Ministry of Culture, Government of India will host ‘Sangeetotsav’ – a festival of Hindustani Music dedicated to legendary Indian classical singer and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee, Dhondutai Kulkarni from July 21 to July 23 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Kala Academy, Panaji.

The three-day event will be inaugurated by Minister for Art and Culture, Govind Gaude on July 21 at 5.30 p.m. The formal function will be followed by musical performances by Kolkata-based, Joydeep Ghosh (sarod); Mumbai-based, Aditya Mohan Khandwe (Hindustani vocal); N Rajam (Hindustani violin) and violin support by Nandini Shankar.

On July 22, the musical recital will be rendered by Srinibas Satapathy (Hindustani flute), followed by Hindustani vocal by Mani Prasad from Delhi which will be supported by Ramesh Jhule and  Rahul Babbar(Vocal Support). The session will be concluded with sitar recital by Pt Budhaditya Mukherjee (sitar). On the following day, July 23 the event will be held at 10.30 a.m. which will be by Kolkata-based, Brajeshwar Mukherjee, followed by Hindustani violin by Anupriya Deotale from Delhi. Alka Deo Marulkar from Nasik will present Hindustani Vocal recital with the vocal support by her daughter and disciple Shivani Dasakkar.

Last day of the event the musical piece will be delivered at 5.30 p.m. Hindustani Vocal will be by Sandipan Samajpati from Kolkata, followed by Sitar recital by Amitava Chatterjee from Delhi. The session and the festival will conclude with Hindustani Vocal recital by Prabha Atre, Mumbai, with the vocal support by her disciple Chetna Banawat.

Mayank Bedekar, Kadar Khan, Prasun Chatterjee, Indranil Bhaduri, Zuheb Ahmed Khan, Sanjay Deshpande, Debashish Adhikary and Madhav Modak will be the accompanying artists for tabla in the concert, whereas Dattaraj Surlakar, Deepak Prasad, Jyotirmoy Banerjee, Shriram Hasabnis, Hiranmoy Mitra and Rahul Gole will be the harmonium accompanist for the concert.
