VM Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education (VMSIIHE), Raia inducted its fifth batch of students for the academic year 2018-19 at its campus in Raia. This year along with applications from Goa, the college also witnessed admissions from Kolkata, Kerala, Pune and Kolhapur as well as NRI students from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait and Bahrain.
The induction ceremony commenced with a welcome address by director and principal, VMSIIHE professor, Irfan Mirza, followed by an introduction of the faculty and the staff.
Speaking on the occasion Mirza said VMSIIHE offers a unique curriculum and world class infrastructure to prepare students for the ever-changing needs of the hospitality industry. “Our goal is to make this institute the centre of excellence for the hospitality industry in India. We are here to ensure that all our students acquire the knowledge and skills that are unmatched in this field. The students have an opportunity to get trained under the guidance of senior industry and academic experts,” he said.
Mirza introduced students to the culture and legacy of the institute while also sharing an insight into what an academic life at VMSIIHE would entail including a globally relevant curriculum, internship programmes at leading luxury hotels, student exchange programmes and international exposure through collaborations with Institutes in Europe. He stressed on the need for a disciplined outlook and the right attitude which can go a long way in preparing a student for the future ahead.
The students and parents were also made aware of the interest free education loans for higher education offered by the Goa Education Development Corporation (GEDC) through an informative presentation by education advisor, V M Salgaocar Corporation and former director of Higher Education, Bhasker Nayak .
The third year students shared their experiences on ways and means to improve the academic experience on campus which left the new batch excited to start the academic year.
