In tribute to late Mohammed Rafi, Hotel Fidalgo is all set to organise a musical night on July 28 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. This year, singer Mehmood Hassan and Chetana Sahane both from Baroda, and anchor from Mumbai, RK will enthrall the audience.
“There is always a fondness for Rafi’s evergreen compositions among our patrons and we arrange these concerts every year to recreate the golden era of Rafi for his fans. Our shows have always received a tremendous response,” says the general manager of Hotel Fidalgo.
Mohammed Rafi is considered to be one of the greatest playback singers in the history of Bollywood. In the four decades that he was active, he sang for most of the top male actors. His career spanning 36 years saw him delivering tunes like ‘Hindustan ke hain hum’, his first song from the film, ‘Pehle Aap’ (1944) and ‘Shaam phir kyun udaas hai dost’ for the film, ‘Aas Paas’ (1980). Mohammed Rafi has also sung countless songs in numerous languages, which ranged from classical numbers to patriotic numbers, qawwalis to ghazals and nazms to bhajans.
Mehmood Hassan, 48, has been singing Mohammed Rafi songs since the last 26 years and has worked with music directors like Naushad Ji, Ravindra Jain, Ismail Darbar and many more.
Chetana Sahane also has been singing Lataji’s songs since last 20 years. This year the show will be hosted by anchor RK from Mumbai who is a versatile singer himself, can mimic in 50 Bollywood voices, and is also a stand-up comedian.
