75 Knots Masters Regatta to set free spirit of sailing in Goa from today




Around fifty sailing veterans, from the age of 45 to 87, will be taking to the waters again to participate in the Goa Yatching Associations (GYA) 75 knots master regatta and wish the associations president emeritus Cesar Menezes a happy birthday at a hotel in Dona Paula from today till October 13.

From the fifteen participating from all over India, fifteen will be from Goa and notable amongst these fifteen will be Derrick Menezes, Anil Madgavkar, Umaji Chowgule, Mark Butt, Herculano and Remy Fernandes, to name a few.

Sailors from the navy, Gulshan Rai , one of the first sailors to sailed around the world and a host of other renowned sailors from all over India will be descending to put on their shorts and take to the water from today till Saturday.

“This is supposed to be a fun regatta but I promise you once they all get into the water the spirit will revive in all and the competition will be intense,” stated Cesar Menezes during a press conference in the capital city.

“The GYA is using the regatta to flag off its preparations for the National Games,” started GYA president Sidharth Satardekar.
