65th National Award Winning Film Festival 2018 inaugurated

The inaugural function of the 65th National Award Winning Film Festival 2018 organised by Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) in association with the Directorate of Film Festivals was held on Friday at ESG, Panaji. The festival will be open to public till June 7 at the Maquinez Palace. Over 23 films will be screened with four Malayalam, three Hindi and Marathi films, while the rest are in other Indian languages. Director of the short film ‘Pavasacha Nibandha’ that won the Best Audiography award, Nagraj Manjule and director of ‘Kaccha Limbu’, Prasad Oak were present for the inaugural function. Also present were vice-chairman of ESG, Rajendra Talak and general manager of ESG, Mrunal Walke. At the event Tonu Sojatia representing her team from Pune for the ‘Flying BhaToPa’ a tribute to late Indian actress Sridevi was felicitated.

Oak who spoke on the occasion said that the trailer of the film, Kaccha Limbu, which won the award for the Best Regional Film (Marathi) was screened at this festival last year. “Last year I released the trailer of my film Kaccha Limbu and this year my film is being screened here.”

The inaugural function was followed by the opening film Pavasacha Nibandha and Kaccha Limbu. There was an interaction held with the directors following the screening, wherein the audience got the chance to ask questions to the directors of the two films.

For the closing, Assamese film ‘Village Rockstars’ will be screened and the director of the film Rima Das will be present for the screening and a Q&A session after the screening. The audiences will also get the opportunity to watch films from languages like Jasari (Sinjar), Tulu (Paddayi), Ladakhi (Walking with the Wind) all of which won Best Regional film awards. Mhorkya (Marathi) which won the Best Children’s film will also be screened. All the films will have English subtitles.

The screening of the films on weekdays will be at 6.30 p.m. while on weekends – Saturday and Sunday – screenings will be at 11 a.m., 5 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. at Maquinez Palace.

(The screening is open to all on first come first serve basis. However, since some of the films have an Adult certificate, the entry will strictly depend on the censor rating of the film.)
