The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Goa in collaboration with Samraat Sangeet Academy, Ponda and the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Goa organised the 40th Samraat Sangeet Sammelan at Kranti Maidan, Ponda.
Present at the inaugural function were chief guest, Narendra Sawaikar; chairman, organising committee, Digambar Kamat; chairman, Samraat Sangeet Academy, Prafulla Hede; regional head, ICCR, Goa, Sudarshan Shetty; president of Samraat Club International State 1, Prasad Naik and secretary, Samraat Sangeet Academy, Sandip Nigalye.
The programme began with the lighting of the traditional lamp at the hands of dignitaries on the dais.
In his address, Narendra Sawaikar said: “For the last four decades, Samraat Sangeet Sammelan has been held with zest and enthusiasm. This showcases the strength of friendship in the field of Goan culture. It is an honour and truly another feather in the cap of Samraat Club International.” A magazine titled ‘Samraadnyi’ edited by Mamta Badami was also released on the occasion at the hands of the dignitaries.
The inaugural function was followed by vocal performances by classical singers Dhananjay Joshi from Nanded and Jaipur-based Mohemed Aman Khan.
