The Anti Narcotic Cell (ANC) of Goa police arrested three persons including a police constable and seized drugs worth around Rs 35,000 along with cash and gold ornaments amounting to Rs 28 lakh in two different raids conducted on Saturday morning in Anjuna.
Police said that based on a source information, the raid was conducted at Bandirwaddo, Chapora in Anjuna wherein a police constable (driver) Vinod Malvankar, attached to the Escort Cell, Mapusa, was found allegedly in possession of 10 grams of suspected charas, approximately worth Rs 5,000.
The accused has been
booked under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 and placed under arrest by the ANC, it was stated.
The raid was conducted by ANC team led by police sub-inspector Rohan Nageshkar under the supervision of police inspector Sachin Narvekar.
Meanwhile, acting on a tip, the ANC conducted another raid at a house near Rampurush Devastan in Anjuna and two persons – Pratiksha Konatkar and her son Ronit – were allegedly caught possessing 1.798 grams of suspected MDMA, 0.936 grams of suspected cocaine and 5,135 grams of suspected charas, approximately worth Rs 30,000.
Upon search of the house, police also attached cash of Rs 3,00,470 (in various denominations) and yellow-coloured metal ornaments appearing to be made of gold, weighing 958.62 grams and worth Rs 25 lakh.
The ANC has booked the duo and subsequently arrested them under the various sections of the NDPS Act.
This raid was conducted by ANC team led by police sub-inspector Nathan de Almeida and further investigation is being carried out by police sub-inspector Rahul Naik.
