VASCO: The Vasco police informed that on late Thursday evening they raided a place at Gandhinagar and seized around 26 cannabis plants, cultivated illegally there.
The value of the seized plants is said to be around Rs 85,600 in the international market. The police said that they have nabbed Firdoz alias Sameer Babajan Shaikh (23), a resident of Mangor Hill, who was looking after the cannabis crop, cultivated in the open, and added that he was arrested under Section 21(a) (i) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The accused was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Vasco, and was released on a conditional bail, the police added. The accused has been directed to report to the Vasco police station for the next 8 days from 9 am to 1 pm, the police said.
Vasco PI Nolasco Raposo informed that based on a reliable and specific information, a police team, headed by police sub-inspector Prajoti Dessai, comprising head constable Santosh Bhatkar, and police constables Sachin Bandekar and Gaurish Satardekar raided the place at around 7 pm and seized 26 cannabis plants of different sizes.
