With the land acquisition process for the 25 MLD water treatment plant at Usgao-Ganjem in Ponda taluka being finally completed recently, this project will provide tap water facility to every household from Ponda, Tiswadi and half of Satteri taluka by 2019, informed PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar on Tuesday.
Dhavalikar was addressing the media after inaugurating the vehicular underpass at Banastarim on Panaji-Belguam highway.
Priol MLA and Minister for Art and Culture Govind Gaude, panch members of Bhoma panchayat were also present on the occasion. Dhavalikar further said, “Water issues in Ponda, Tiswadi and surrounding areas will be resolved after completion of 25 MLD plant proposed at Usgao-Ganjem. The construction work of the project will commence next year and will be completed within a year.”
According to PWD officials 25 MLD plant was proposed by government in 2010 which received technical sanction in 2011.
The total cost of project is Rs 115 crore and will occupy area of around 43,000 square meters.
On Tuesday Minister Sudin Dhavalikar along with Minister Govind Gaude inaugurated vehicular underpass at Banastarim on Panaji-Belgaum National highway, which is constructed at cost of Rs 11 crore.
This vehicular underpass is designed to resolve traffic chaos situation at Banastarim junction during the bazaar days as well as during peaks hours.
With this underpass, vehicles travelling to Marcel, Ponda or Panaji side have been channelised in proper way, said Dhavalikar.
Minister Govind Gaude expressed satisfaction over completion of much need underpass in his constituency and said along with development of highways, construction of roads in remote areas is need of the hour.
He said that since Priol constituency is located in remote area, he has set an aim of construction of internal roads in every village.
