Minster for Art and Culture, Govind Gaude assured artists that the department will formulate a scheme or policy wherein the artists will be given a platform to showcase their creative work. “This year over 1000 artists will be participating and there were many more who wanted to be a part however we were unable to accommodate them but we will make provision for them in future,” said Gaude. He was speaking at the inaugural of Lokotsav 2019.
Gaude also mentioned that this year around 43 folk groups from different corners of Goa will showcase their art at the 10-day festival. “We are constantly making efforts to give handicraft, folk and other artists a platform wherein they can showcase their creativity and also bring something new to the people of Goa,” he added.
While welcoming the guests and other dignitaries, director for art and culture, Gurudas Pilankar said that they have been preparing for the 20th edition of the festival over a long period of time and it is a privilege to see this inauguration take place.
Also, secretary art and culture, Daulat Hawaldar spoke about how art is proving to be an essential tool to people to get out their messages to people.
The dignitaries were accompanied by the traditional rath performers. Also present was noted wroter Babasaheb Purandare. The inaugural was followed by various performances like Poorva Rang, Shigmovadan, Zagor and others.
