2 truckloads of material dispatched to Kerala

PANAJI: Kerala Sangamam, a Panaji-based association of the Kerala community in the state has expressed its solidarity with people who have been affected by the devastating floods in that state.

With the donations made by all well wishers from all over Goa and with the helping hand extended by the Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte, they have collected around 1000 kits of relief materials consisting of grocery and cleaning material.

Around 15 volunteers of Kerala Sangamam are accompanying the materials to Kerala so that they reach the affected people in Kerala. They will also help in cleaning the houses.

The two trucks carrying the relief materials was flagged off by Revenue Minister in presence of secretary of Kerala Sangamam Mathew P John, who thanked all the well wishers for their cooperation.

Meanwhile, Rs 1.25 lakh has been donated for the cause.

Khaunte said that the country is one and all states are together adding, “We need to do something for a state facing a natural calamity and under this association, residents in Goa are united and they had taken an initiative for a good cause.”
